Maurice van Riek joined the Earlybird advisor team in 2008. He has gained over 15 years experience in the semiconductor, wireless and broadband communications, mobile terminals and digital television sectors. During this time, he worked in various roles including product line management, head of R&D and business unit manager.
Maurice currently serves as global head of R&D for Digital Television at Nagravision in Switzerland. He is also managing director of TESC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nagravision in Munich, Germany.
Prior to joining Nagravision, Maurice was senior vice president at Siemens, heading the smart phones business unit. He was responsibile for the development of the first non-Nokia Series 60 smart phone and the negotiations about a Series 60 partnership with Nokia. During this period, he also served on the supervisory board of Symbian.

Before that, Maurice was vice president at Infineon, initially responsible for Data Communication ICs and later for the Radio Frequency ICs business unit. He was involved in growing the Radio Frequency ICs business into a market leader for a wide variety of applications in the mobile and wireless phone sector. Additional activities included the build-up of a wireless systems company in Denmark, where he sat on the management board. He was also involved in defining an xDSL strategy for Infineon.
Maurice holds a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Delft University of Technology, Holland and is an INSEAD alumni.
