PROF. DR. MED. MANFRED DREYER
Prof. Dr. med. Manfred Dreyer is Head of the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Diabetology at the Asklepios Westklinikum Hamburg.
After studying medicine in Hamburg and pursuing various research activities, Prof. Dreyer was initially Chief Senior Physician at the Bethanien Hospital from 1986 to 1990, until he became head of the newly established Department of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders in 1991. Following his appointment as professor at the University of Hamburg in 1992 he was appointed Medical Director of the Bethanien Hospital in 1995. In 2006 Prof. Dreyer moved to Asklepios Westklinikum Hamburg and is now the head of the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Diabetology.
Alongside these activities, Prof. Dreyer was chairman of the Initial and Further Training Committee of the German Diabetes Society (1995-1999). Since December 2000 he has been Chairman of the Federal Association of Clinical Diabetes Establishments (BVKD), and since July 2001 a member of the Guidelines Commission of the German Diabetes Society.
