PROF. DR. MED. JOACHIM M. MÜLLER

Since 1994 Prof. Dr. med. Joachim M. Müller has been Director of the Clinic and Outpatient Department for Surgery (now Clinic for General, Visceral, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery) at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, focusing on tumour surgery, minimally invasive surgery and thoracic surgery.

After studying at the Medical Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich from 1966 to 1972, Prof. Müller first became a scientific assistant at the Pathological Institute of the University of Munich and subsequently scientific assistant at the University Surgical Clinic Köln-Lindenthal. Here, and at the University's Accident Surgery Clinic, he was Senior Surgeon from 1983 to 1993.

In addition to his activities at the Charité, Prof. Müller was chairman of the Berlin Surgical Society (since 2000) and is a member of the German Societies for Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Thoracic Surgery and President of the European Society of Surgery (1999).
