Matias Collan joined EB as Venture Partner in 2008.

Before joining Earlybird, Matias has focused on entrepreneurial and operational activities. Matias co-founded Woodstone, a company focusing on large-scale production and distribution of wood pellets in the US; where he still serves as non-executive advisor. Also, Matias has served as executive Director and Board member of MGS Plc, a UK company active in the area of online and mobile gaming technology and services. Matias assisted the company in its last round fundraising and subsequent stock exchange listing.

Prior to that, Matias worked several years in investment banking, advising on various types of corporate finance transactions, including stock exchange listings and related fundraisings, venture capital financing, restructuring, and in particular M&A deals (both listed and non-listed companies). Matias has had exposure to a multitude of industries, among others telecoms, media, life science, utilities and renewable energy, mechanical engineering, and real estate.

Matias started his career with a major law firm in Frankfurt (now CMS Hasche Sigle). He was born in Finland, trained in law in Germany and Switzerland and holds a German Master of Law.
