Lumics GmbH has strengthened its management team to accelerate growth in the industrial laser market.

Lumics' high brightness laser diode technology was initially developed for the telecommunications market. Recently fiber coupled laser diodes find increasing application in industrial and medical markets, both, to pump solid state lasers and for direct material processing. To accelerate growth in these emerging markets and to expand worldwide sales activities Lumics has complemented its leadership team with two experts in the field.

As of Nov. 1st 2007 Dr. Bruno Acklin joined as new managing director (CEO). Bruno brings 15 years of international experience in marketing and engineering management with leading manufacturers of optoelectronic components. In his last role at JDSU in San Jose, CA he directed the development of active components. At Osram Opto Semiconductors in Regensburg, Germany from 1995 to 2000 he developed the high power laser diode business segment. As a researcher at AT&T Bell and Siemens corporate Laboratories he coauthored 15 patents and numerous publications in optoelectronics.

Frank Laas takes responsibility for Sales and Marketing. Frank has 20 years of experience in international sales. From 2004 to 2006 he managed worldwide sales for Limo. Prior to that at ELS and Newport he developed and served customers for optical components and systems in Europe and the US. Franks strives to satisfy customers with quality products, and competent and reliable support.

Dr. Karl Eberl, Chief Operating Officer (COO) will focus on production and packaging. Dr. Nils Kirstaedter in his role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) continues to lead R&D and chip production.
