
Founded in 2002 by Prof. Dr. Dr. Werner Mohl, a cardiac surgeon at the Medical University of Vienna, Miracor is developing a medical device applying PICSO (Pressure-controlled Intermittent Coronary Sinus Occlusion) in acute and chronic heart disease patients. Of the 59 million people who suffer from these diseases globally, more than 20% could take advantage of the PICSO technology.

The system consists of an external pump driving an inflatable balloon catheter which is temporarily advanced into the heart. The technology has been applied in pre-clinical and clinical studies and the results have demonstrated positive clinical outcomes.
